The Shekhawat Rajputs ruled over the Shekhawati region for over 500 years. The Shekhawat’s are the most prominent among all the sub-clans of the Kachwaha Dynasty of Jaipur. Sir Yadunath Sarkar in his book Fall of The Mughal Empire, wrote tha Shekhawat’s were the bravest among the sub-clans of Kachawaha Dynasty of Jaipur.
One dazzling gem is the Shekhawati region in Indian crown located in northeast Rajasthan, the region is known in the name of its ruler Rao Shekhaji that is spread across the region comprises the districts of Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Churu and some part of Naugar.
The shekhawati region is mainly famous for its numerous havelis (or mansions) for their elaborate and intricate frescos, these havelis are spread across the region giving Shekhawati its well-deserved moniker of being the world’s largest open air art gallery! The havelis of Shekhawati are either from the turn of the 19th century or date back to the more recent past of the 20th century.
The land of Shekhawati had been well known for the contribution towards nation and international globe in the field of education, business, defense, politics, culture, tourism and many more.
Many members of this region have been won gallantry awards including the Param Veer Chakra (the highest Indian award for bravery in a time of war), the Mahaveer Chakra, etc.
In the modern era the renowned people of Shekhawati i.e. Birla, Bajaj, Mittal, Kanodia, Geonka, Dalmia, Singhania, Poddar, Chamadia, Ruia etc. have been established their names at national and international level in industry proliferation for the upliftment of society since independence and early.
The people of Shekhawati region had proved themselves to establish the milestones in the various fields specially handicraft, business and industry, literature and craft on the land of Marwar Jodhpur.
Shekhawati Samj Sansthan, Jodhpur was established in the year 2006 with the aim to maintain fraternity and preserve the culture and civilization of shekhawati region among the people of shekhawati living in the Marwar region of Jodhpur.
